“With that their eyes were opened and they recognized Him….” (Luke 24:31)

On the way to Emmaus, with the disciples, Jesus walked.
They did not recognize the Lord.  Though with them He talked.
He took the bread and broke it.  The bread they then received,
That’s when they recognized Him.  Gone was all their cause to grieve.

We can be so mournful—at times filled with dread.
May our eyes also be opened at the breaking of the bread.
May we know You’re walking with us—our God and our Savior.
May we see truth with Your eyes.  Grant to us this favor.

Lure our loved ones, Jesus, out of the darkness they are in.
Show them Your divine light.  Grant them Your peace within.
Draw near to them, Lord Jesus, as to the disciples you drew near.
Help them recognize You, Jesus.  Free them from every fear.
