“Do everything without grumbling or questioning, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine like lights in the world.”  (Phil. 2:14-15)

Father, these times are dark.  Crooked is this generation.
Perversity surrounds us, and seems to consume our nation.
Keep us blameless, Father.  And keep us innocent.
Keep us holy, Father.  Make us Your instruments.

Dear Father, without grumbling, to You we now turn.
We trust fully in Your help.  Your will, help us learn.
Let us shine, dear Father, for You in this world as lights.
That Your glory may be seen, in this darkness of night.

And help our loved ones, Father, to now turn to You.
Knowing that You love them and will see them through.
In this world grown so dismal, help them now see the light,
Of all that’s good and holy.  Bless them with clear sight.

Let us no more question You.  Let us no more grumble.
Reveal to us Your divine truths.  Keep us ever humble.
Help us make our way, through this darkness of night,
Help us turn to You, Lord, toward You and Your light.
