“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and will all your strength… You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”  (Mark 12:28)

Lord Jesus, help us to love Thee,
To love Thee with all our heart.
Grant, Lord, that we might love Thee,
With all our mind and our strength from the start.

And help us to love our neighbor.
The second of your great commands.
And may we love ourselves too, Lord.
In the pure way that Your love demands.

For love is our mission, dear Jesus.
On this road, sometimes rough, we must trod.
And if we can love as You do,
We’ll be close to the Kingdom of God.

Help those who we love, in Your mercy,
|To find love’s meaning in You.
That they may love You and others
In a way that is faithful and true.

And help them to see, Lord Jesus,
That this path on the journey to love,
Is a holy path to eternity—
Guide them there with grace from above.

And as they journey, Lord Jesus.
Open their eyes to see—
That to love oneself in an ordered way
Starts first with their love of Thee.

As we journey through life, Lord Jesus,
May Your Spirit descend like a dove,
To teach us life’s greatest lesson:
Our first calling in life is to love.
