“…He emptied Himself, taking the form of a slave…” (Phil. 2:7)

Let us glorify You, Jesus, and glorify the Father too,
By walking humbly as You walked, obedient like You.
When agony knocks at our door, and excruciating loss,
May we no more plot our escape from this painful cross.

Jesus, You gave all to us.  To us Your life You gave.
You emptied Yourself for us.  For us became a slave,
You came in human likeness.  Humbly suffered pain and loss
Obedient unto death—a brutal death upon the cross.

The cross is Your will for us.  The cross may we embrace.
It is our path to heaven.  Help us run this holy race,
Until we reach true paradise, with hearts filled with perfect love.
May we run well the path now destined, with Your grace from above.

And grant to our loved ones, Lord, the grace to run as well
The faithful race to glory, of which the scriptures tell.
May they walk in humility, Your promise may they claim.
May they ever seek to serve You, Lord, and glorify Your name.
