WHY ARE YOU TERRIFIED?

The disciples were with Jesus
To cross the sea, He’d decide.
For it was He Himself who said:
“Let us cross to the other side.”

A violent squall came up,
O’er the boat, high waves were breaking.
Jesus, sleeping on a cushion,
Showed no signs of waking.

The disciples woke up Jesus,
and asked Him then and there:
“Teacher we are perishing,
Do You not about this care?”

Jesus rebuked the wind,
And quieted the sea.
The wind died down.  The waters became
as calm as they could be.

“Why are you terrified?”
Questioned God’s only Son:
Do you not yet have faith?
Of faith, have you yet none?

Awe filled the disciples.
And they went on to say:
“Who is this whom even
The wind and sea obey?”

Jesus, we are terrified,
Waves over us are breaking,
We, so often filled with fear,
Are frightened and are quaking.

Wake up now and save us LORD,
For we have faith In You.
Rebuke the wind whipping ‘bout,
Calm the rough sea too.

Heal us, God of Mercy.
To us true faith, now give.
Grant us souls filled with faith.
In faith, may we forever live.

Give to all our Loved ones, LORD,
Now lost so far at sea,
All the grace to seek You,
And love none more than Thee.

Give to our loved ones, LORD.
All the faith they need.
For You to calm life’s stormy seas.
To You LORD, we now plead.

Go to them now dear loving LORD.
Let them hear Your gentle voice,
Above the noise of stormy seas.
May Your will be their choice.

Go now to them now Jesus,
Send grace from up above.
May they rest secure in You,
And in Your perfect love.
